This is a small selection of sculpted paintings, primarily on wood or hardboard.

The power of shape to influence the mood and impact of an image became clear to me long ago. However, it takes a great deal of effort - for me - to bring unruly, more or less organic shapes into a meaningful confluence with an image, itself. Thus, there are fewer of these pieces than in  other areas.

 These pieces reflect my small effort to resist the invisible, pernicious hegemony of the rectangle in daily life. From sheets of paper and books to doors, buildings, windows and walls, monitors, movie screens and mattresses, the rectangle dominates our intellectual landscape yet remains largely unnoticed.  

All items are painted in oil and are typically fairly large. These, more than most, derive from the springs of my personal mythology and imagination.
